The School of Geography, University of Leeds is looking for candidates to apply for a Marie Skłodowska Curie Individual Fellowship to spend two years doing post-doctoral research on the broad topic of Global Urban Justice.

TOPIC: GLOBAL URBAN JUSTICE. Within this topic, we are interested in a range of possible themes and topics and are open to any geographical focus: Global urbanisms, The right to the city, Social, spatial and environmental justice, Urban politics, citizenship and contestation, Housing struggles, Smart Cities for whom?, Displacement and expulsions, Mega-urban events, Informal housing settlements, The illegal city, Residential and commercial gentrification, Urban commons, Environmental (in)justice, Urban policy mobilities, Urban social movements, Urban enclosures and dispossession, Squatting, Urban privatisation, Contested cities, Austerity urbanism, Low carbon cities, Eco-housing, Urban agriculture.

• We are part of an international research project on Contested Cities with extra funding until 2016 (
• We are leading in a university broad network on social and environmental justice (
• We are carrying out high impact and international research in issues from urban slums in India, to privatisation of housing in the UK, urban mega-projects in China, eco-housing, low carbon cities, global justice movements, commercial gentrification, urban agriculture, Urban policy mobilities, global urban contestation and cities in crisis. OBJECTIVE OF THE SCHEME: The goal of these Fellowships is to enhance the creative and innovative potential of experienced researchers wishing to diversify their individual competence in terms of skill acquisition at multi- or interdisciplinary level through advanced training, international and intersectoral mobility. Applicant and host must be able to demonstrate potential for transfer of knowledge. More information:

ELIGIBILITY: You need to be:
• Experienced researcher (PhD holders or researchers who at the call deadline have 4 years research experience) at any stage of your career.
• Any nationality (including British but see below).
• You cannot have lived and worked in the UK for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to the call deadline.
